Social Media Marketing is the core of Anntoine Marketing + Design, so it’s no surprise that we eat, sleep, and breathe social media everyday. But why do we love it? And why should you use it?
"I like Twitter because it keeps me up to date on all my interests and industries.
Twitter is a great social media tool for rapid engagement with your fans and customers, from a business point of view. Twitter has become the news source for many people, and not having your brand actively utilize it can limit your overall reach. It also allows for more humorous brand messages as seen by brands like Taco Bell, Old Spice, and iHop. #twitterizkool"
"One of my favorite social platforms is Reddit. My husband and I browse "The Front Page of the Internet" over morning coffee -- our generation's version of reading the newspaper.
Reddit can be beneficial for business owners in a variety of ways from seeing what is trending in various relevant subreddits to actually posting and asking questions in an appropriate subreddit to gain feedback from a very large audience.
My other favorite, lesser known, platform is Houzz. Anyone interested in Interior Design, Gardening, Architecture, etc should BE ON HOUZZ. It is an amazing collection of beautiful homes and gardens. I spend a lot of time getting ideas for my next home improvement project on Houzz!"
"My favorite platform is Snapchat. I can keep up with friends, celebrities, and companies daily through their Snapchat Stories.
Snapchat allows followers to view the day-to-day activities of a person or business. Social media has shifted from simply advertising for a business to creating a brand’s identity or personality. By creating a Snapchat for a business, consumers feel that they are connected to the company on another level. Recently Snapchat has added more features to help businesses succeed. Individuals and businesses alike now have the option to create custom filters for their business location or event. For example, Walt Disney World took advantage of this feature for their theme parks. Based on geofences set through Snapchat, they run a filter for each of the lands in Magic Kingdom. Your business should definitely be on Snapchat & take advantage of the extra tools it can offer you."
"Instagram is my favorite social media platform because I love photography. I am constantly scrolling through my Insta feed throughout the day. I follow all kinds of design and photography accounts. These photos give me inspiration for my own designs and style.
But Instagram isn’t only for photo sharing. Another great feature of Instagram are the videos. Designers and artists can show their process by simply uploading a short video. Users tend to get more engagement when showing video footage and using hashtags. Instagram is a great tool for companies to show their customers a different perspective of their brand."
Be interesting. Get creative. Engage your audience consistently. Tell your story. Show off your brand personality. Be inviting. With compelling content that represents the heart of your brand, you will capture your audience’s attention and stand out from the competition.
A lot of great businesses are already using social media (high fives all around), but they aren’t pushing out the most unique or relevant content. When your business’s social media page is filled with gifs or starts to look like a never-ending infomercial, that’s when you know you’re just posting for the sake of posting - an easy trap to fall into. Yes, your content needs to be branded, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Mix up your content by posting relevant videos, articles, behind-the-scenes photos, polls, and quizzes.
Pro tip: Balance is key. Memes and gifs add personality but don’t let that be ALL you post. A diversified feed will get you the results you’re looking for in time.
After your initial research and brainstorming, think about implementation. Think about the how. You’ve got these cool, new ideas to make out-of-the-box posts - which is half the battle. But you still have to implement the ideas and capture your audience’s attention. A simple way to do this is to ask. Yep, just ask! Leave them a call to action: visit our website, purchase now, enter today or share this post with your friends!
After you post your fresh new ideas, take a look at the results. See what worked, what didn’t, and learn what your audience engages with most. Does your audience prefer posts that have fewer words in the caption, or do they respond best to posts designed to promote discounts? Asking yourself these questions monthly or quarterly will help your social media presence evolve with your target audience.
Social media is a great marketing tool when you know how to use it. Now go--start making some inspiring new content!
