The One Where You Pivot
Whether it is to your message, your allocated budget, your event date, or your overall marketing strategy... sometimes you have to make a change and that’s okay. Even with years of experience, we know it’s not easy. It’s not easy to scrap a plan and start over. It’s not easy to reschedule vendors for an event or continue promoting when you are not even sure it will take place. Big or small, change isn’t easy.
As marketers, we are constantly shifting our focus and ideas in different directions while in the middle (or end) of a project. It’s not only purposeful, but it’s crucial. We are here to provide helpful tips so you can do the same.
Now is not the time to continue business “as usual” as some consumers may consider that to be insensitive or detached. We may not all be affected in the same way, but we have all been impacted by the current crisis. Now is the time to review current ad campaigns and suspend any that no longer make sense, or make adjustments to your advertising strategy. For example, you may need to increase targeted ad spending on social media platforms to highlight a new delivery service or video chat option. For other businesses, it may be more important to save money by reducing ad spending altogether.
New Market and Services
If you begin to experience the economic impacts of COVID-19 on your business, it could be a great time to pivot. Stay in touch with your clients and let them know about any changes or precautions you’re taking. Plus, remind them that any temporary setbacks will end and business will eventually resume as usual. If you’re able to jump into rapid delivery or online shopping options, use this as an opportunity to capitalize on the increased need for e-commerce and porch-side service. Utilizing video calls for conferences and sales pitches? Let your audience know you’re being proactive and working hard to provide the products and services they rely on, all while protecting the health of employees and customers alike.
